WEEKLY THOUGHTS:

There will never be a really free and enlightened State until the State comes to recognize the individual as a higher and independent power, from which all its own power and authority are derived, and treats him accordingly. I please myself with imagining a State at last which can afford to be just to all men, and to treat the individual with respect as a neighbor; which even would not think it inconsistent with its own repose if a few went to live aloof from it, not meddling with it, nor embraced by it, who fulfilled all the duties of neighbors and fellow-men. A State which bore this kind of fruit, and suffered it to drop off as fast as it ripened, would prepare the way for a still more perfect and glorious State, which also I have imagined, but not yet anywhere seen.

Who Is The Enemy?

As the well known philosopher, Pogo, stated, "We have met the enemy, and he is us."   In a democratic republic this is always the case. We the people, or some part of the people, are responsible for allowing or encouraging everything that happens in governing America. Every adult and every political organization has some complaint or dislike about government. It is probably safe to say that every Federal law is oppressive to millions of people, yet it is for Americans to decide the type of government they desire.

Where, or what is the disconnect? It really is easy to see the disconnect when one thinks about it honestly and without prejudice. Everyone has family and friends who have different ideas of what the Federal Government should or should not control. Since all of these people can vote, and can convince politicians what to vote for, it is obvious that some will vote to maintain Freedom, while others will vote to limit Freedom. Therefore, "We the people," are the problem, pure and simple.

Now that we acknowledge and accept who the enemy is, what do we do about it to regain lost Freedom? We attack! Because we are a Freedom loving people and do not want to bring harm to fellow Americans, and because we want to keep the Constitution intact, we must attack non-violently, in keeping with the American philosophy of Freedom for all.

  • The first and the ideal way would be to elect Freedom loving congressmen who will immediately begin repealing all laws that are anti-Freedom. However knowing congressmen the way we do, they are very hard to control.

  • And, secondly, knowing people the way we do it is very difficult when almost half of the people support tyranny to one degree or another. Therefore, they are the tyrants. Tyranny is usually defined as oppression. Oppression is usually defined as injustice or burdened. Anything that a person is forced to do or to pay for, unwillingly, is oppressive. Government, which is only force, can use the force in preserving Freedom or can use it oppressively. The U.S. Government uses it oppressively, which is contrary to the principles upon which the country was founded. Since government is only paper (the Constitution), it is the people in government who are the oppressors. They, too, are the tyrants and need to be recognized as such. We, the few, who are against any type of tyranny, must focus on both of these enemies of Freedom. If either one of these are excused, for one reason or another, the battle for Freedom is in jeopardy. Both groups must be convinced to see that peace and their futures cannot be realized through oppression.

  • A third idea is to shut down the law making process to stop any further assaults on Freedom. Massive, peaceful distractions are a way to do this. Every day of delay is allowing the process to continue taking Freedom from the people.

  • A fourth is to hold serious, well meaning discussions with those friends and family members who do not understand the importance of Freedom for all. Many seem to think that in perceiving to help one group at the expense of another group is acceptable. It is not.

  • Fifth, is to take part in patriotic events such as the Tea Parties and let it be known that zero tolerance for any type of tyranny is your position.

  • Sixth is to write or call talk shows leading off with the statement that we all must protect the Freedom of every American and let that be the thread that weaves through your entire discussion. Castigating the President, Congress or others of a different opinion does not further the cause of Freedom. All administrations, all congresses, all supreme courts and almost all bureaucrats have taken Freedom from We the people.

  • Seventh, make the FOCUS ON FREEDOM dominant in all political communication. That means never ask government for anything, except to preserve our Freedom. By binding Congress to Article 1, Section 8 of the Constitution Congress could not take from one at the expense of another.

There are many untruths thrown out in political discussions, on both sides of any issue. This only succeeds in taking away the credibility of the person or persons who make up or perpetuate these untruths. It detracts from the main focus of the discussion, which should be Freedom for all. Maintaining, and repeating the FOCUS ON FREEDOM in all conversations will keep the thought on the most important issue that defines America. It would be a great victory for liberty if every discussion of any issue started with how it effected the Freedom of any American. This should be added as a requirement of Congress’s procedures before any issue can be debated. The preamble of every bill should include the effect on Freedom for all. Every letter, phone call, message to Congress should first ask the question; what effect will this bill have on other Americans? Does it FOCUS ON FREEDOM for all Americans?
